QUOTE (woggie @ July 23, 2009 04:51 am)
the completed gear boxes being readied to be mated with the lower floor pan.Note ladies working in the factory back then....equality for the sexes...the hairstlye is classic...the gearboxes finished in metal colour but the screws are darkish...hmmm

see the hammer in the pic? i wished they never used that, but then again, cant blame them, those days, car factory, fast and easy way and they never thought the cars would have lasted this long ......lol :D

The hammer in the picture "a chisel style "was most likely used for the original sound deadeners where they needed to hammer it to the side of the main fork frame... and to the rear luggage area with the original board styled versions......

it could be, but the other reason is they used it to bang the small nails to hold the rubber seal. the seal was secured by quite a few nails from factory.

Dear Asamboy, the pictures are from my collection of 4 - 5 books on the historical background to the VW. Benny's suggestion is correct other shots on that YOU TUBE site.

brother woggie
books on the historical background are more facts and detail, as for shots on that YOU TUBE site is more to individual perception -got this picture from old book of mine on vw historical time line :)
